European Coalition for Israel welcomes UN ceasefire resolution but warns: “Only full disarmament of Hizb’allah can secure peace and stability in Lebanon”
Barneveld, Netherlands, 15 August, 2006 – The European Coalition for Israel welcomed on Monday the UN ceasefire resolution in Lebanon and stressed that it is now up to the world community and the Lebanese government to disarm Hizb’allah and fully prevent the terrorist organisation from firing new rockets in to northern Israel.
- “If the original UN resolution 1559, where the world community had called for all militias in Lebanon to disarm, had been implemented as agreed in 2004 the war could have been avoided alltogether”, stated ECI executive director Rijk van Dam from his office in the Netherlands.
- “Now it is up to the United Nations to prove to the world that they are willing and able to live up to its obligations to secure peace and stability at the Israeli-Lebanese border”, he said in a short statement from Barneveld.

ECI Warns Europeans to: ’Learn from History’
Brussels, June 9, 2006 - On the first day of the FIFA World Cup in
Germany, concerned Christians across Europe have joined forces to
ensure that Holocaust-denying Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad nor
his deputy will be allowed to attend.
Speaking at the launch of a new Brussels-based campaign website www.learnfromhistory.eu, Tomas Sandell from the European Coalition for Israel said:
”The Iranian president, like Hitler, employs the rhetoric of
genocide and is busily arming himself with the weapons to carry it out.
Now is the time for Europe's citizens to speak out loud and clear to
say that neither Ahmadinejad nor his deputy are welcome here.”

The European Coalition for Israel has been campaigning against the
prospect of Ahmadinejad's visit since he stated his intention to visit
Germany over a month ago. The ECI's lobbying efforts were to conclude
this week with the launch of a high profile advertising campaign in
Germany's mass circulation daily Das Bild Zeitung in Berlin, when the
