ECI Warns Europeans to: ’Learn from History’
Speaking at the launch of a new Brussels-based campaign website www.learnfromhistory.eu, Tomas Sandell from the European Coalition for Israel said: ”The Iranian president, like Hitler, employs the rhetoric of genocide and is busily arming himself with the weapons to carry it out. Now is the time for Europe's citizens to speak out loud and clear to say that neither Ahmadinejad nor his deputy are welcome here.” Sandel’s comments follow news reports that President Ahmadinejad is openly considering attending the World Cup Soccer tournament in Germany if the Iranian team progresses to the second round. Not only that, his vice-president has announced his intention of traveling to Germany to see the Iranian team play as early as next week.”Today, as the World Cup kicks off we have launched a major information campaign to send a powerful grassroots message from the citizens of Europe,” Sandel adds. ”Everyone worried about Ahmadinejad's genocidal agenda should visit www.learnfromhistory.eu and stop him hijacking the tournament.” The newly created website gives a background to the campaign and displays a provocative advertisement, comparing Ahmadinejad to Hitler, which is to appear in a leading German newspaper next week. ”The internet is a powerful tool to spread such an important message and we hope that everyone involved will do their utmost to forward the message to their family and friends,” says Sandell. ”In the 1930’s there we no internet and there were no European wide network of pro-Israel Christians.” ”Let’s show the world that we have learnt from history.” |
